Meet Debby Macharia: A Journey of Beauty, Innovation, and Empowerment
Debby's story is one of passion, perseverance, and giving back. After graduating from Egerton University and studying marketing and PR in Nairobi, she worked for prestigious companies like Kenya Duty Free, The Grand Regency, and Matis Paris before embarking on a new adventure in Canada.
Driven by her love for beauty, Debby pursued hair and cosmetology courses, earning her license in Canada and the coveted Red Seal certification. This allowed her to practice her art anywhere in the country.
But Debby's ambitions didn't stop there. Combining her education, product expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit, she founded Beauty Profs - a company born from her desire to create superior, result-driven products for fellow professionals.
From humble beginnings as a mom of two young girls building salons city by city, Debby has blossomed into a global entrepreneur. Her signature products are now sold worldwide, with Beauty Profs becoming a household name in the industry.
Debby's commitment to education shines through the Beauty Profs Academy, offering specialized courses in textured hair, chemical straightening, hair additions, braiding, and more.
Her hard work hasn't gone unnoticed. Debby has been awarded the African Women Business Leadership award and nominated for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards.
But success hasn't made her forget her roots. Through the Smiles Foundation, Debby helps provide sanitary products to girls in her village, enabling them to stay in school. The foundation has expanded to include youth mentorship, elderly care, and orphanage support programs - now run by her daughters, Imani and Hazina.
Debby is also a founding member of the Network of Black Business and Professional Women in Ottawa and Beauty Profs Talk, focusing on business and mental health for beauty professionals.
When she's not changing the beauty world, Debby enjoys quality time with her husband and daughters - traveling, reading, walking, or catching a good movie.
Debby Macharia: A testament to the power of vision, hard work, and giving back to the community that shaped her.
